1st Day in LA

1st Day in LA

Today was my first day in LA, Im here for the Magento Imagine Conference. Since I've never been in LA I really wanted to see the sights and especially see some the buildings I modelled in 3D while working on the PS3 game LA Noire. My favorite building was the Trinity Auditorium and It was quite a uniqie building.

Relaxing by the pool on my 1st day in LABut upon waking up all I really wanted was to relax so I made my way up to the sky deck of my hotel and proccedded to get into the hot tub. Aaaaaaaahhhhhh, Relaxation, really! Id forgoten how terribly un relaxed I had bcome over the last few months.

I was suppossed to meet a friend at the west hollywood farmers market. But after getting into that hot tub the thought of gettign out and trapssing around a busy farmers market It dawned on my that a farmers market is a farmers market and the hot tub was just too damm relaxing to go anywhere.

I messaged my friend and mentioned how the hot tub was much nice than the market and she agreed so she made her way over and we had breakfast by the pool and caught each other up on our lives since last we connected.

Relaxing in the Hot Tub on my 1st day in LA Despite what I have heard my first impressions of LA are somewhat positive, admittedly I didnt see much of go very far but what I did notice was that there is a pretty relaxed vibe around the place and I like that a lot. Also where ever I went I seemed to notice the abundunce of palm trees and I think these added to the relaxing vibe.

Michael White

My Name is Michael White, I grew up in Sydney Australia and arrived in the US in July 07.

Prior to coming to the United States I worked as a 3D Artist for a company called Team Bondi on the game LA Niore. I was always interested in Design and Graphics as I studied Fine Art's after finishing School.

I was not until I arrived in the US and had a little spare time on my hands that I really dug deep into web development. I started out learning basic HTML and CSS and a short time after I found Joomla. Building Sites with Joomla was so much faster that the old HTML coding method I was using before! It ignited a greater level of enthusiasm and inspiration for my new found Career path in Web Design/Development.

After building a few sites for my own projects I began to take on bigger projects like E commerce and so forth, this is what really pushed my problem solving skills and understanding of not only the joomla framework but also web server architecture and the Internet in general.

Working in 3D Animation I had built up quite a lot of experience in Photoshop as we made all our textures, bump maps and normal maps in PS. Having a strong grounding in photoshop allowed me to efficiently learn Fireworks and later Illustrator.

I am currently developing my PHP and MySQL skills so I can effectively build Joomla Components and plugins for my new clients at Joomal Go!
